Heyo! Here we have simplified a step-by-step guide to help you through the process of setting up your own home-farm with Altifarm. We have also added some helpful tips as well as some suggestions that will help you thrive your plants like a pro!
So, let’s get onto the nitty-gritty of growing and caring:
1. Consider where to place
First, and foremost, choose a nice place where you can grow, meditate, and care for your plants. Altifarm has wheeled mobility that lets you move anywhere in the house with the least effort. So, now you have your own garden on wheels, a dream comes true, right?
Tip: Place it somewhere where there is no garden such as a porch, deck, or in the darkest corners of your house, just make sure you place it near an outlet to power the grow lights.
2. Decide what to grow
Before getting into gardening consider what to plant. Whether you want to plant a vegetable garden, herb garden, or a flower garden. Consider planting those plants which will be favored by the clock.
Tip: Make sure you refer to the county planting schedule to find out what to plant and when.
3. Add soil
Once you decide on the plants, you’ll need to add soil. It is advisable to use a lightweight, well-aerated potting mix that will provide good texture for wicking, and retain moisture for a long period. If you want to experiment, you can even use a soil-less growing medium like cocopeat.
4. Sow seeds or transplant
The best part of Altifarm is that it gives you full control over what and how to grow. Awesome, right! There is an endless list of plants that you can grow like microgreen, herbs, veggies fruiting plants, and even houseplants (the only limitation being height and depth of roots in some cases).
Tip: Be sure to read the seed packet for information about planting time, depth, and spacing.
5. Turn the light on
You’ll manually need to turn on and off the grow lights. We recommend giving 12-16 hrs of light and at least 8 hrs of darkness to the plants per day as it is important for their growth.
6. Add water
Last step! Whoa! Add water slowly to the maximum level. Refill the reservoir after a week when the level runs to the lowest level.
Tip: The first time you add water to the reservoir, make sure to water a little from the top–this will ensure that the soil is nice and moist and all the way through.
That’s really all there is to it! Happy growing!
